The middle years are the foundation of every institution since they are the years when a student forms a significant lasting impression. The difficulty for educators is to provide learning situations and experiences that resonate in the student's mind.
During these important middle childhood years, children are thought to be functioning developmentally, as Piaget termed the concrete and formal operational stages. During this phase, literacy as well as computational and conceptual skills are acquired. Children also develop relatively permanent attitudes about school and learning, including study habits.
A child's academic and social self-concepts develop incrementally with age. This is a time where it is imperative for students to learn good habits to help put them on the right path toward success in high school, secondary level and beyond. We promote civic engagement by creating a classroom culture that fosters active engagement, participation, and inclusivity. We always encourage student learning by participating in classroom activities and discussions.
It is important that there are opportunities for students to share their own ideas with others and explore leadership roles to gain self-confidence and courage. We focus on classroom activities to increase student engagement through real-life simulations, hands-on tasks, and collaboration with others.
Students actively participate in opportunities like these that help in learning more meaningful and to make memorable moments.
